I think we in this country use words like socialism, commie, nazi, fascist, and the like without knowing what they can truly mean. Anybody who reads history can only imagine what it was like living under the rule of people like:
-Chairman Mao Tse-tung
-Ivan the Terrible
-Caligula (Gaius Ceasar)
I could go on and on. My point being is that I have seen many accuse Obama of being like some of these people. It disturbs me that people think its okay to compare. We as a people have never had to live through any of the following:
-Total foreign invasion
-Bombing of our cities and towns homes etc.
-Soldiers walking our streets
-Soldiers knocking down our doors killing our family members
-Complete fear of our government to the point of death
-Total religious pursecution
-Limits of our speech to the point of death
We have never experienced any real government control of everything. I don't mean something like a public option on health care. Which some deem to be the government taking over health care. But REAL total government control, we have never seen. I have many on-line friends from China and we often speak of their frustration with what they can and can't do because of government limitations.
Yet some here in America feel okay in tossing words like Communism and Fascism around to describe this current administration. Since we as a nation have never lived through any of the horrible events mentioned above, our view of the world at times can be just a bit naïve.
Of course as always and to honor Dennis Miller (before he went to the dark side)
That is just my opinion I could be wrong.
