This topic has troubled me for a while now. I heard Rush comment that he honestly believed that Obama has placed his political power over and above the interest and safety of the United States. He truly believes Obama cares more about his own popularity that he would risk the safety of the USA. I also listened to a TEA Party organizer state that she had not heard Obama say one positive thing about this country. That based on the way he spoke, the things he said and the speeches he made he did not love this country as much as she or others do.
This type of thinking disturbs me. As deeply as I disliked Bush and his policies I never doubted his love of the country. However misguided I believed his values were. I believed Bush saw himself as more of a Christian Soldier for America. He wanted to spread Christianity to the world. So even though I find that idea revolting. I don't doubt his intention in his mind was good.
What I am seeing lately in the new anti-Obama rhetoric is a true dislike and even hatred for the man, not his policies. I can see from this why some claim that the problems people have with him are racist. I believe from what I have seen that no matter what Obama did they will still find a reason to hate him. If he said the sky were blue there is sure to be a protest on the white house steps saying the sky was orange.
Please tell me your views. Am I completely off base here? Am I reading too much into it? Do you think I am crazy? What are your views on Obama as a man?
